Locksmiths from Madhya Pradesh Busted for Robbing Houses in Delhi

Three locksmiths from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested in Delhi for masterminding a series of house burglaries, according to Delhi Police. The suspects — Surjeet Singh, Anil Singh, and Kirtan Singh — all skilled in lock mechanisms, used their profession as a cover for a string of thefts across multiple localities in the capital.

The arrests came after a complaint was filed on April 20 in the Vijay Vihar area, reporting the theft of gold jewellery and ₹50,000 in cash. Investigating officers reviewed CCTV footage, tapped local informers, and eventually tracked the culprits to a hotel in Mahipalpur. After inspecting over 50 hotels, the accused were apprehended on April 28.

Police revealed that the locksmiths operated as an organized interstate gang. They would travel from Indore to Delhi every month, stay for about two weeks, and execute multiple burglaries using stolen two-wheelers to aid their movements. Their day was spent identifying locked homes and their nights executing thefts, often targeting more than 10 houses in a single spree.

The trio has been linked to at least 13 burglaries and nine motor vehicle thefts across Rohini and surrounding areas. Authorities seized a haul of stolen property from them, including ₹22,000 in cash, ten gold bangles, nine rings, four gold chains, two necklaces, seven pairs of earrings, and a specialized lock-breaking device.

Surjeet, the main accused, has a criminal history involving 10 cases, including charges under the Arms Act. Anil and Kirtan also have several burglary cases against them in Madhya Pradesh. Police say further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional links and possible accomplices.
