An explosion occurred near a PVR theatre in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area this afternoon, leading to a swift response from the police and fire brigade. The Delhi Police reported receiving a PCR call regarding the incident at 11:48 AM. A forensic team has also been deployed to the scene to investigate the cause of the blast.
ED Team Attacked During Cyber Fraud Probe
In a separate incident, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team was assaulted on Thursday during a search operation related to the PPPYL cyber fraud case in South West Delhi’s Bijwasan area. Officials revealed that the attack involved accused Ashok Sharma, his brother, and others connected to the case. An additional director of the ED sustained injuries in the altercation.
Following the attack, the ED lodged an FIR with the police. Authorities confirmed that the situation has since been brought under control. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Surender Chaudhary stated, “Ashok’s relative Yash was one of the attackers. He has been arrested.”
Air Quality Deteriorates in Delhi
Delhi’s air quality remained a major concern, with the national capital recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 310 on Thursday morning, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category. Out of 39 monitoring stations, 26 reported similar conditions. Mundka emerged as the most polluted locality with an AQI of 373, followed by Jahangirpuri at 364.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that the city would remain in the ‘very poor’ category for the day, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 10.1°C to a maximum of 26°C.
