Delhi was shaken by a horrifying crime after an 18-year-old woman was brutally stabbed, strangled, and partially burnt by her male friend in the Sanjay Van area of Mehrauli. The victim, a student of Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (SOL), had left for class on Sunday morning but never returned. Around noon, she had informed her mother she’d be back soon. When she didn’t arrive, her worried family began searching and later received a shocking call.
The accused, Arshkrit Singh, also a student at SOL, was reportedly injured and hospitalized in Pitampura. His father informed the victim’s family that his son had been attacked at Sanjay Van. Fearing foul play, the victim’s family rushed to the forested area but couldn’t locate her. Based on their suspicion of past disputes between the two, police registered a missing complaint.
Upon interrogation and review of CCTV footage, Arshkrit confessed to luring the girl to a secluded part of Sanjay Van, where he stabbed and strangled her. He then attempted to burn her body to destroy evidence. Singh sustained minor injuries during the attack and fled the scene.
Police recovered the charred body and weapon. Arshkrit has been arrested under charges of murder and destruction of evidence.
