A shocking case has emerged from Delhi where a 36-year-old businessman was booked for assaulting his wife after she confronted him about his alleged girlfriend. The incident, which occurred in Vasant Kunj, took a violent turn when the man reportedly thrashed his 34-year-old wife and divorced her by uttering Talaq three times in front of a witness.
According to the FIR, the couple had been married since October 2014 and shared two children. The wife alleged that on May 18, she discovered her husband with another woman and confronted him. In response, he not only confessed to the relationship but also pronounced triple Talaq, threatening to kill her and even asked the other woman to fetch a knife.
The woman further claimed he returned multiple times despite warnings from the women’s cell and again attacked her in front of their children. A viral video showed the woman being assaulted while her young son tried to protect her.
Police have registered a case under Section 115(2), 351 of the BNS, and Section 4 of the Protection of Muslim Women Act, 2019. The matter has sparked outrage and calls for stronger protection of women facing domestic abuse.
