Dwarka Expressway is all set to transform travel for commuters as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates two major projects — the Delhi section of the expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) on Sunday. With these openings, travel time from Noida to Indira Gandhi International Airport is expected to reduce to just 20 minutes, offering huge relief to daily travelers.
The new corridors will ease congestion on Delhi’s busy Ring Road and reduce pressure on highways like NH-48, NH-44, and the Barapullah elevated corridor. Built at an estimated cost of over ₹6,400 crore, the 75.71 km UER-II connects Mahipalpur near IGI Airport with Alipur in North Delhi, also linking to NH-44. The expressway and UER-II together will provide smoother access for residents of west and south Delhi, Gurugram, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir, bypassing traffic bottlenecks.
Packages three and four of the Dwarka Expressway, including a 5.1 km tunnel directly connecting to IGI Airport, will boost connectivity with Gurugram. Earlier, the Haryana section was inaugurated in March 2024. The projects also highlight sustainability, with 10 lakh metric tons of landfill waste reused in UER-II’s construction.
These new roads promise faster, safer, and greener connectivity for Delhi-NCR.
