Businessman Shot Near Delhi Temple in Suspected Robbery Attempt

Businessman Rajendra, a Noida resident and perfume shop owner in Chandni Chowk, was shot at near a temple in Delhi in what police suspect to be a robbery attempt. The incident occurred around 10:15 PM on Friday near the Bhairon temple on Tilak Marg while Rajendra was returning home from work.

According to police, unidentified attackers on a motorcycle had been following the businessman before opening fire near the temple. Despite being injured, Rajendra managed to contact his business associate, who rushed him to a hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment, and his condition remains stable.

Hospital authorities promptly alerted the police, who have registered a case of attempted murder. Preliminary investigations point to a possible robbery motive, though police confirmed that nothing was actually stolen during the attack.

“We believe the assailants were trailing the businessman for some time. The motive seems to be a robbery, but we are keeping all angles open,” a police official said.

CCTV footage from the area is being thoroughly reviewed to identify the suspects and track their movements. The police are also checking if Rajendra had any prior threats or disputes that might have led to the attack.

The incident has raised concerns over security in the area, especially given its proximity to central locations in the capital. Authorities are urging the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities.

The businessman’s family has not issued a statement, but police confirmed that they are cooperating in the investigation.
