An uproar was made after a woman’s body was found floating in a canal in Delhi’s Chhawla area. The shocking case led to the arrest of a man Asif, he has been arrested on the charge of murdering Komal a resident of Seemapuri’s Sundari Nagar.
During investigations it was found out that Asif, a taxi driver, is a man whom Komal had known for a while. However, on March 12 he had taken her from Seemapuri in his car and, for some reason, Asif ended up killing her by strangulating her to death. He also covered up for the crime by tying a stone to her body and throwing her into a canal.
It was only March 17 that the horror of the incident was discovered when Komal’s body floated to the surface due to swelling. Her family had actually inform the police that she is missing and the case was reported as a kidnapping at Seemapuri police station. When the body was found, the Chhawla police registered a case of murder.
The police have arrested Asif and the vehicle used for the crime has been impounded. The police have also not ruled out the possibility of others’ involvement in the incident.
This particular case is significant as it follows another heinous crime that was reported a day earlier, in which a Merchant Navy officer from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was killed, cut into pieces and his remains were put into a drum which was then sealed with cement. His wife and her lover Sahil Shukla are the accused in this heinous crime.
As the investigation into both cases remains ongoing, the magnitude of the crimes committed has understandably caused a great deal of public outrage. The authorities are determined to see that justice is done for the victims.
