A 19-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being thrown off a five-storey building in North East Delhi’s Ashok Nagar by a stalker. The horrifying incident took place around 8:30 AM on Monday, and the victim succumbed to her injuries later that night. The accused, a 30-year-old man identified as Taufiq-Ur-Rehman, is currently on the run, according to the police.
The victim’s family alleged that the accused had been stalking her for months and had once been close to the family, often celebrating festivals like Raksha Bandhan with them. Disguised in a burqa, he sneaked into the building and flung the girl off the terrace in front of her father when she went to switch on the water pump. The girl fell nearly 50 feet and later died at GTB Hospital after battling for her life for nearly 12 hours.
The shocking act has shaken the local community and sparked outrage, with right-wing groups gathering to support the grieving family. Markets in the area remained shut in protest, and heavy police deployment continues amid fears of communal tension. The family, devastated and demanding justice, said they had never filed a complaint because they never imagined the situation would escalate to this level.
Authorities are searching for the accused in both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Police have converted the initial case of attempted murder into one of murder, and more charges including stalking may follow. The incident has ignited calls for stricter action against stalking and violence against women.
